We had a very informative All Member Meeting on 23rd January with great presentations from both Dr Paul Catchpole, Value & Access Director of the ABPI, and David Fitzgerald, National Cancer Programme Director at NHS England.
David faced a number of questions on how the NHS Long Term Plan is going to play out with particular reference to rare and less common cancers and we were pleased to hear that working with Cancer52 in the future is likely to contribute to this.
We also committed to working further with the ABPI to tracking progress on the new VPAS, particularly with an eye on the first annual review, and on the potential impact of the new pay to appraise fee on drugs that may be for smaller numbers, ie rare and less common cancers.
