Trustee Vacancy

Cancer52 – an alliance of charitable and not-for-profit organisations, a unifying body providing one representative voice to champion earlier diagnosis, better treatment and stronger support for those with rare and less common cancers – is looking for:

Trustees

Are you passionate about improving outcomes for rare and less common cancers?

Do you want to join the Board of an influential, exciting and unique voice in the world of cancer policy at a time of growth and development?

Do you have the insight and expertise to help Cancer52 on the next stage of its journey?

Outside the big four of breast, bowel, lung and prostate, cancer care remains under-represented and under-funded across all areas, including policy, services and research. Cancer52’s aim is to bring about fundamental change so that there is no longer a discrepancy between the mortality

rates of less common cancers and of the big four.

Cancer52 was registered as a charity in September 2017 and now represents almost 100 mainly small, patient support group cancer charities united by their vision of seeing a better future for everyone affected.

We intend to build on our work so far and take the next steps in developing the organisation so that it can achieve its longer-term vision and strategic objectives.

We are now looking for trustees to join us who can support Cancer52’s work and mission. Applications are welcome from anyone who is passionate about improving outcomes for rare and less common cancer, and who can contribute to the board-wide requirements of our person specification. Given the current make-up of the board, we would particularly welcome applications from those with either of the following:

  • Finance expertise

  • Public policy expertise

Please see here for further information about the role. Once you have reviewed this information, we hope you will be interested in applying. To do so, please:

  • Send a CV (maximum two pages of A4) together with a supporting statement of no more than 500 words explaining why you are interested in becoming a Trustee of Cancer52.

  • Email your application to Ainsley Taylor, ainsley.taylor@cancer52.org.uk by 31st January 2021.

If the right candidates come forward, we may arrange interviews before the closing date for applications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a face-to-face interview (via Zoom).

If you wish to have an informal discussion about your interest in the role before applying, then please contact Ainsley Taylor at the above email address and we will arrange a date and time to speak with either the Chair or Chief Executive of Cancer52.
