One week into the C2C4C challenge and the UK team are raring to go!

We are now over one week into this years’ Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) Country 2 Country 4 Cancer (C2C4C) cycling challenge, meaning we are almost at the halfway stage. The riders have clocked up around 1,500 kilometres so far, raising money for various European cancer charities. National teams of BMS colleagues are travelling in a relay across the continent and have so far made it from Germany to France via Switzerland and Italy! By the time they arrive at the finish line in the UK, the teams will have cycled over 3,000 km (1,800 miles) for charity.

Donations are flying in thick and fast and we are looking to beat last year’s total of £14,000 that was raised for Cancer52. If you haven’t sponsored our riders yet and would like to support both their efforts and the important work we do here at Cancer52, please visit the C2C4C FundRazr page.

In a week’s time the BMS UK team will be picking up the baton in Tours, France along with their colleagues from Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. They will be taking us through to the finish on the 27th September at the BMS London offices. Let’s meet three of the team taking on this challenge to help support people affected by rare and less common cancers in the UK.

The UK team cycling for Cancer52

There are eight BMS colleagues who make up the UK C2C4C team. We met Dan and Joanne previously; we would now like to introduce Alex and Charlotte!

Alex Ferguson lives in south west London, and although quite new to cycling has been enjoying pedalling round Richmond Park as part of her training. Alex not only works in cancer education, she has lost a number of both friends and family to cancer over the years. She is hoping to raise a lot of money to help support the efforts to find a cure.

Charlotte Chapman is a mother of two and lives in Maidenhead. Charlotte is completely new to cycling, and did not even own a bike prior to signing up! Charlotte has so taken to cycling she has even joined a local club. She is particularly looking forward to completing the challenge as a team and supporting each other all the way. Charlotte’s father was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2013, and she says that his efforts to make every day count are a huge motivation for her.

We are so grateful for all the efforts that the UK team and BMS UK are going to in order to support the work that we do. Remember that you can sponsor the team at the C2C4C FundRazr page.
