Moving on from Recommendation 40

Cancer52 and the Specialised Commissioning Team at NHS England will be hosting a session for members of Cancer52.

This session is a follow-on from the joint piece of work that was undertaken by Cancer52 and NHS England last year reviewing the scope of Recommendation 40* from the Independent Taskforce Report.

The session aims to provide members with an update on the ongoing work programme within the Cancer Programme of Care with a particular focus on the work in progress to improve outcomes for patients with rare and less common cancers.

The session will be chaired by Rory Harvey, the Clinical Co-Chair for the Cancer Programme of Care and supported by the Children and Young People’s Clinical Reference Group. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!

Please note that refreshments, but not lunch, will be provided at this session.

* Recommendation 40

The Trust Development Authority, Monitor and NHS England should strongly encourage the establishment of national or regional MDTs for rarer cancers where treatment options are low volume and/or high risk. Clinical Reference Groups will need to play a key role in supporting these.
